Adélaïde Labille-Guiard

Labille-Guiard began with miniature and pastel before training with François André Vincent. She taught women and entered the Royal Academy in 1783. Remaining in France during the Revolution, she portrayed deputies. After the Academy closed in 1793, its successor institutions excluded women.
