Fachang Muqi

Muqi Fachang was a thirteenth-century Chan monk and painter. His ink paintings of birds became particularly valued in Japan, where artists collected and studied them. Sesson was among those who learned from his work. The movement of scrolls between countries placed his painting within several artistic traditions.
