Master of Heiligenkreuz

The artist's conventional name comes from the convent of Heiligenkreuz in Austria, where panels associated with him were found. His origins and training remain uncertain. Courtly, elegant forms connect his work with International Gothic. His Death of the Virgin and Death of Saint Clare were once joined and may have served a convent.
