Ogata Kōrin

Ogata Korin worked with painted screens and decorative forms. He lived in Edo from 1704 to 1709. In Rough Waves, flowing lines and large curves combine with techniques drawn from Chinese brush painting. The museum also notes a possible connection with earlier waves painted by the Japanese artist Sesson.
