Rembrandt van Rijn
1606–1669

Training with Pieter Lastman introduced Rembrandt to Italian artistic developments. He never left the Dutch Republic, but his prints circulated internationally. With Jan Lievens, he developed expressive head studies from workshop exercises into independent works for the art market.
